Grasslands are being threatened by the influence of humans. Humans are developing urban developments such as houses, roads, cities etc, and clearing land for farming which in turn is destroying the grasslands. Since they are altering the amount of land that animals have to live, they need to adapt and or find new homes because they may become extinct due to the destroying of their habitat.
25% of grasslands have disappeared because of people are interfering, building power plants, cities, schools, roads and permanent homes (also known as Urban Development) where their habitats ince were
Not only are the grasslands being destroyed but the animals lives are indirectly and directly being destroyed. The building of developments indirectly affects species. Whereas the purposeful killing of species directly affects the population. Farmers have been killing prairie dogs because they believe them to be “pests,” which is bad for their farming. However, the killing of this species is illegal. Also, species that once inhabited with vast populations have been named to the endangered species list such as tigers, elephants, leopards and much more. These species have been named to the list because of poachers who hunt for “sport,” and or are trying to make money. Elephant tusks are made of ivory which is a very valuable (selling for hundreds of thousands of dollars) to collectors.
Also, among the African Savanna, people are allowed to tour seeing the animals such as giraffes up close and in person. This has a significant effect towards the animals well being considering they are wild animals and not meant to be observed so close. Not only do humans being near them affect their well being, the way the tours are conducted (in cars) pollutes the air around the animals which also takes a toll on their well being.
